# Discover traders

> Use the TrueCurrent Social leaderboard to compare trading performance, filter results, and find traders to follow.

TrueCurrent Social helps you discover traders through their public trading performance. Start with the leaderboard to compare results, then open a trader's profile for more detail.

You can browse the leaderboard without signing in. Sign in to view detailed trader profiles, follow a trader, or [create your own public profile](/social/create-profile).

  Following a trader saves them to your following list. It does not automatically copy their trades, allocate funds to them, or execute trades on your behalf.

## Browse the leaderboard

The leaderboard ranks traders using their public trading performance. Each entry can show:

* Rank and display name
* Performance for the selected timeframe
* Trading-style tags
* Follower count
* Mutual connections, when available
* A Follow or Unfollow control

Traders can appear on the leaderboard using their default identity. They do not need to create a public profile first.

## Filter and sort traders

Use the controls at the top of the leaderboard to narrow the results:

| Control   | What it does                                               |
| --------- | ---------------------------------------------------------- |
| Timeframe | Compare performance over a shorter or longer period.       |
| Tags      | Find traders with one or more trading-style tags.          |
| Sorting   | Order traders by the available metric you want to compare. |
| Following | Show only traders you already follow.                      |

Filters work together. For example, select a timeframe and a trading-style tag, then turn on **Following** to compare people you follow who match those filters.

## Open a trader's profile

Select a trader to open their public profile and [review their performance and activity](/social/trader-profiles). You must be signed in to view the detailed profile.

When you return to the leaderboard, TrueCurrent preserves your selected timeframe, tags, filters, and previous place in the results.

## Follow from the leaderboard

Select **Follow** beside a trader to add them to your following list.

* If you are signed in, the trader is followed immediately.
* If you are browsing as a guest, sign in or connect when prompted. TrueCurrent completes the Follow action after successful authentication.

You can follow traders without creating your own public profile. Following is saved to your TrueCurrent account, which is why it requires sign-in.

## Understand mutual connections

On the leaderboard, mutual connections can show people you follow who also follow the listed trader. This helps you find traders through your existing connections.

Mutual connections on a trader's profile have a different meaning: they can show people that both you and the trader follow. See [trader profiles](/social/trader-profiles#understand-mutual-connections) for details.
